About Me

About Us

Welcome

Hello and welcome to my website, my name is Thea Bailey and I am a Person-Centred counsellor. I provide a safe and supportive counselling space for us to work in and ensure I work at a pace that is safe for you.  I offer support with stress, anxiety and low mood as well as providing specialised support for major life experiences, such as: relationship breakdown; bereavement; redundancy; changes in life direction; retirement; family issues; becoming a new parent; blended families and step-parenting.

I am a Certified Gottman Therapist having trained with The Gottman Institute in the UK and USA.  I use their scientific and evidence based interventions within my couples and family therapy work. This includes The Sound Relationship House and how to avoid The Four Horseman: Criticism; Contempt; Defensiveness and Stonewalling.

As well as working in my own private practice, I have volunteered at my local hospice providing bereavement support, provided counselling to support offenders within the prison service, and I have been a tutor at my local college for Level 1 and Level 2 counselling skills.

I am a member of BICA (British Infertility Counselling Association) and support individuals or couples who are about to start or are going through the process of IVF.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I have a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. As a BACP member, I meet the standards of professional practice and knowledge under the BACP Register for Counselling and Psychotherapy, which is approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.
