As well as working in my own private practice, I volunteer at my local hospice providing bereavement support and I provide counselling to support offenders within the prison service. I am also a counselling tutor at my local college and a mental health trainer for Herts Mind Network.
Not all counselling work has to go back to the past and I am able to work with clients who wish to stay in the present and work through issues using solution focused techniques. I also work with horses, which is a different way to experience counselling and I and use them to support my counselling work with clients. This way of working is particularly helpful when working with trauma, anxiety, bereavement and young people.
I am a member of BICA (British Infertility Counselling Association) and support individuals or couples who are about to start or are going through the process of IVF.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I have a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. I am also a qualified hypnotherapist. As a BACP member, I meet the standards of professional practice and knowledge under the BACP Register for Counselling and Psychotherapy, which is approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. I have an Enhanced DBS check in place.
